Beagle Hunting

Beagle Hunting is a breath-taking scene, and such shows are still popular in the U.S.A. Originally bred for hunting wild game, Beagles have developed a great sense of smell and intelligence, which enables them to foretell the movements of quarry with a stunning precision. Beagle Field Trials are aimed at revealing dogs showing the best results in a number of disciplines, such as searching, pursuing and trailing, as well as some temperamental features, like determination, endurance, and willingness to cooperate with other members of the pack.

Beagles are also great home companions, possessing a very amicable temperament. They are not only sweet with their loved ones, but are very friendly with strangers. Beagles are pack animals, and they love to play with other beagles. Well socialized dogs are good with non-canine pets as well, but many dogs tend to pursue other animals, and hence they should not be trusted with them. Beagles are superb companions for children. They are fond of active physical exercise, and they cannot do without company. Bored and lonely dogs can be a sheer hell to neighbors, because they become extremely vocal. These dogs always need a job to do, and there is hardly a more beneficial way of keeping your dog’s mind and body working than Beagle Hunting.

Beagles are cute little tail-waggers. They stand about 13-14 inches high at the shoulder, and have a smooth coat. They usually come in bi-color and tri-color combinations of white, black and red (tan, brown, lemon, etc.) Beagles have a domed head, elongated muzzle and a gentle facial expression. Their voice has a unique baying vowel characteristic, which these dogs use when hunting to notify their owners about success. This feature is also evaluated at Beagle Hunting competitions.

Beagles are generally healthy and hardy dogs, and they rarely have genetic disorders. Their average life span is 13-15 years. Even old dogs are quite energetic and vivacious. Beagles are very easy to care for, but they do have a stubborn streak and hence they can be hard to train for novice Beagle owners. They should not be walked without a leash, because they can catch a scent and run away paying little or no attention to the world around them. This feature is good for Beagle Hunting, but it is also one of the most common reasons why there is always a job to do for Beagle Rescue Clubs.
